What Personal Data Is Collected and Why
Personal data is collected to improve services and enhance user experience. The types of personal data collected may include:
Personal Information: Name, email address, and personal account preferences, primarily for forum registration and participation.
Technical Data: Information such as cookies and usage data to analyze site traffic and improve performance.
The data is collected for the following reasons:
User Interaction: To facilitate forum participation and user communication.
Site Improvement: To analyze site usage and improve content and services.
Personal data is generated through user interactions with the site, such as comments and forum posts, and through technical processes like cookies and analytics.
Comments and Forum Posts
When visitors leave comments or participate in forum discussions, the data shown in the respective forms is collected, along with the visitor's IP address and browser user agent string, to help with spam detection.
An anonymized string created from an email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if it is in use. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of a comment, the profile picture is visible to the public in the context of the comment.
Media
Users who upload images to the website should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS), as this data can be downloaded and extracted by other visitors.
Contact Forms
When using the contact form, the website collects the name and email address entered. These submissions are retained for a period necessary to address queries but are not used for marketing purposes.
Cookies
The website uses cookies to enhance user experience and gather analytical data. This includes cookies set by plugins, social media, and analytics tools. By default, WordPress installs certain cookies. If a comment is left on the site, users may opt-in to saving their name, email address, and website in cookies for convenience. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit the login page, a temporary cookie will be set to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when the browser is closed.
When logged in, several cookies are set to save login information and screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for one year. If "Remember Me" is selected, the login will persist for two weeks. If logged out, the login cookies will be removed.
If an article is edited or published, an additional cookie will be saved in the browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article just edited. It expires after one day.
Analytics
Analytics packages are used to monitor website traffic and improve content. Users can opt out of analytics tracking, and links to analytics providers' privacy policies are available. By default, WordPress does not collect analytics data, but web hosting accounts may collect some anonymous analytics data.
Who Data Is Shared With
Personal data is not shared with any third parties except for service providers who assist in operating the website and conducting business. These providers are bound by strict data protection agreements. By default, WordPress does not share personal data with anyone.
How Long Data Is Retained
If a comment is left, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This allows for the recognition and approval of follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users who register on the website (if any), the personal information provided in their user profile is stored. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information. Different types of personal data are retained for varying lengths of time:
Contact form entries: 6 months
Analytics records: 1 year
Forum posts and comments: Indefinitely, to maintain the integrity of forum discussions.
What Rights Users Have Over Their Data
Users have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of their personal data. They can also object to data processing and request data portability. To invoke these rights, please contact admir@admirux.com.
